Barbara E. Ungar, Esq., with extensive criminal, civil and family court litigation experience, has continued to champion the causes of the defense in her representation of her clients throughout the State. She formerly served as an Assistant County Counsel in the Essex County Counsel’s Office in Newark, New Jersey from 1988 through 1990 and developed expertise in mental health law.
She was then employed as a Deputy Attorney General with the Division of Criminal Justice of the Office of the Attorney General of New Jersey from 1990 through 1992, assigned to the Civil Remedies and Forfeiture Bureau, where she specialized in the handling of complex civil forfeiture actions involving narcotics and environmental forfeitures and related actions. She was then employed as a Deputy Attorney General, with the Division of Criminal Justice, assigned to the Labor Prosecutions Unit, from 1992 through 1999, where she developed expertise in the handling of complex unemployment fraud, wage and hour and related fraud and tax prosecutions.
