Designer Greetings began in Staten Island, NY, in 1982, when Jack Gimbelman, after many years in the greeting card business, decided to launch his own company with his wife, Vickie. By 1990, the company had expanded to a new 22,000-square-foot office and warehouse, with Jack and Vickie’s children, Fern and Steven, joining the business. The company continued to grow, and in 2006, Designer Greetings acquired the Card$mart® trademark, surpassing 18,000 designs and increasing its staff to 180 employees.
