The history of Avenel-Iselin Medical Group (AIMG) goes all the way back to 1956 when Dr. Joel Mayer established his new general practice in the central New Jersey town of Avenel, NJ. Dr. Mayer settled with his family into the community, devoting the next 19 years to growing his successful solo practice that served the residents of Woodbridge Township and the surrounding communities. 

Meanwhile, in the early 1960s, a colleague of Dr. Mayer’s, named Dr. Robert Maurer, started his solo medical practice in nearby Iselin, NJ–and also grew it successfully.
